We’re going to start off on Thursday with a trip to Fort Benning. If you haven’t been there lately, it’s a trip that you will particularly enjoy. the 250 foot towers are still there, and they are still jumping off of them. You’ll get a chance to see that first-hand as the Parachute School demonstrates for you how they train Paratroopers today. An extra added attraction this year will be the ground breaking for the latest Airborne project, the commemoration of the Battle Monuments, which are monuments to commemorate every Airborne Invasion that the U.S. Army has made.
11 April 2008
On Friday, we’ll have a Memorial Luncheon to recognize the heroes of the Airborne, the comrades we lost in the 19 Invasions. The Airborne Chorus will provide music for the occasion.
12 April 2008
On Saturday, the ladies will have a luncheon in the morning and the Airborne Chorus will deliver a program devoted just to them. Saturday evening, we’ll cap off the weekend with the Airborne Awards Banquet, at which time the Airborne Organizations will recognize their men of the year, and the National Airborne Man of the Year will be named.
Many of our combat leaders will be present to tell us how the Troops are doing.
After the Awards Banquet we’ll all adjourn to the Dance Hall where the music of the 40’s and 50’s will give us a chance to dance the night away.
